It's like it's coming right at me! I just tried out acrylics today so damn, I can appreciate this a bit more haha. Not the easiest medium to use.
Quick question if you don't mind me asking. Is the illustration board smooth? If not, do you use gesso or anything to cover it? I keep reading about it and realised it would probably make things a lot easier.
It's slightly textured... The only place I can find the smoothest stuff is WHSmith. There was an old rather shitty painting underneath, so I covered it in a layer of white acrylic first. I payed very little attention to getting that smooth mind you (because I just do not have the patience). the flatter the easier it is though. Depends how concerned you are with a flat finish. I'm not. Acrylics are awesome because they will go over anything... Wood always seems best, but even stretched shitty paper will work.
I only ever buy cheap shit... But I don't often use canvas, and when I do, I use oils. I recommend illustration board. Or just stretch some cartridge paper over a board. (Ya know, soak it, atretch it over wood and stick it down with that brown tape stuff whilst wet?)
Holy...! Dude this looks so damn awesome! You did such a great work on the details, the diffrent colour tones around his head and the crossing between the t-rex and the background. Really good job on this
